FAQ

FAQ

Who can sell & bid?:

All individuals can view the items up for auction. However, only CSSA member submissions and bids will be accepted. All submitted items and bids are validated as being from CSSA members in good standing.

What is allowed for auctions?:

This service is primarily for firearms, but upon approval of the site moderators, firearms related items may be listed. All item descriptions are the responsibility of the individual who is selling the item... The CSSA does not verify the condition and functionality of any items listed.

How do I get an item listed?:

Contact the CSSA office and give the item information to the office staff, or fill out the faxable PDF submittal form found HERE and submit it to the office. Or you can contact the CGCA website administrator here and provide your item specifics. Please let us know if you require the buyer of a firearm to initiate a transfer. Images of items can usually only be accepted electronically for inclusion to the listing.

How much do I get from the sale?:

The CSSA will keep 50%, 75% or 100% of the proceeds depending on the submitted agreement. Minimum initial prices are negotiated between the seller and site administrators. In the case of firearms, the minimum possible starting bid will be $70. Non-firearms are addressed on a case by case basis. There are no reserve bids.

How do I submit a bid?:

You can contact the CSSA office and give them the listing number and your bid. Or you can email your particulars and your bid to the CSSA or the site administrators. Validated bidders will be told the current status of the item. Online current bid amounts may be out of date, to inquire, please contact the site administrator.

What is a valid bid increment?:

Items are listed with an opening bid and an increment in brackets. The value in the brackets is an acceptable multiple for the next bid. As an example; Opening Bid - $400 ($25), bids can be $400 plus a multiple of $25, so valid bids are $400, $475, and $525; invalid bids would include $410, $375.

How does the service work?:

1. An individual successfully submits an item(s) for listing with an agreed upon end date (usually the end of the following month) and initial start bid.

2. Interested individuals submit their bid on the item.

3. Highest bid at close of auction is the winner.

4. Winner submits the final sale value to the CSSA (including the listing number)

5. The CSSA then subtracts the donation percentage and reimburses the remainder to submitting seller. CSSA provides contact info to both parties, who complete the transfer and ship the items.

In some select cases, staff and volunteers of the CSSA will be able to arrange secure temporary storage and take care of shipping arrangements.

Closing of Auctions:

Auctions close on the stated date at 11:59pm EST. Please be aware that this means that online bidders can indeed trump bids which are called into the CSSA office. The winner and seller will be contacted by email within 48 hours of auction close, or phoned within three business days. A payment submittal form will be mailed via email, or can be faxed or mailed via post to you.

If you have just become a member of the CSSA, please allow for at least 5 working days for your membership to be processed.

Firearms Classification:

All firearm listings are listed with a classification as provided by the seller. The CSSA make no efforts at verifying these classifications. Please be aware that as a bidder on an item, you must hold a valid possession and acquisition license for the appropriate classification.
